Symptoms of PTSD

PTSD can manifest in numerous ways, impacting your mental, emotional, and physical health. Common symptoms include:

  • Intrusive Thoughts: Frequent, distressing thoughts about the traumatic event, often experienced as flashbacks or nightmares.
  • Avoidance Behaviors: Deliberately avoiding places, people, and activities that remind you of the trauma.
  • Cognitive and Mood Changes: Persistent negative beliefs about yourself or others, feelings of hopelessness, and emotional numbness.
  • Hyperarousal Symptoms: Increased irritability, difficulty sleeping, and heightened alertness.

Recognizing these symptoms is essential for seeking appropriate help and beginning the healing process.

Common Traumatic Events

Trauma can result from various distressing experiences, such as:

  • Combat Exposure: Military personnel and veterans often experience PTSD due to combat-related stress.
  • Personal Assault: Survivors of physical or sexual assault may develop trauma-related symptoms.
  • Accidents: Serious car accidents, workplace injuries, or natural disasters can lead to PTSD.
  • Childhood Abuse: Early life trauma, including emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, can have lasting effects.
  • Witnessing Violence: Observing violence or being involved in life-threatening situations can trigger PTSD.

Identifying the source of trauma is the first step toward effective treatment and healing.

Why Consider Trauma Therapy

There are several compelling reasons to consider trauma therapy. It helps in reducing the intensity and frequency of PTSD symptoms, providing much-needed relief. Therapy offers a safe and supportive space to explore the impact of trauma, fostering greater self-awareness and understanding. It also equips you with effective coping strategies to manage stress and triggers associated with trauma.

Innovative Neuroscience Therapy for Trauma

Traditional trauma therapies often require a long-term commitment and can be emotionally taxing. Our neuroscience-based therapy in Cibolo, Texas, provides a revolutionary alternative by targeting and alleviating emotional distress at the subconscious level. This method addresses the underlying causes of trauma, facilitating quick and profound positive changes. Typically, our sessions last 1 to 3 hours, and many clients report significant improvements after just one session.

Rapid and Effective Relief

  • Substantial Improvement in One Session: A single 2 to 3-hour session is enough to see substantial progress.
  • Comprehensive Treatment for Complex Cases: More intricate trauma cases may require multiple sessions to resolve deeper issues fully.
  • Integrated Holistic Practices: We incorporate holistic methods such as breathing exercises and relaxation techniques to support overall mental and physical well-being.

Healing After Trauma

Healing from trauma is a multifaceted journey. It starts with accepting the trauma’s impact, allowing you to acknowledge the difficulties it has caused. Processing these experiences in therapy helps you confront and understand your traumatic memories in a safe setting. Rebuilding involves restoring your sense of security and trust, which is essential for moving forward. Finally, growth emerges as you use your experiences to build resilience and strength.

Positive Changes You Can Expect

Effective trauma therapy can bring about several positive changes. You’ll notice a reduction in PTSD symptoms, leading to better daily functioning. Enhanced emotional regulation will help you manage your reactions more effectively. Therapy also fosters healthier relationships by addressing communication and trust issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

PTSD Trauma Counseling in Cibolo Texas

I utilize a cutting-edge, neuroscience-based approach intended to pinpoint and resolve difficult problems quickly, easily, and automatically. My clients are often astounded at the shifts and changes we can make in just a first session. This approach works equally well for anxiety treatment, depression therapy, PTSD and trauma treatment, and couples and marriage counseling.

I work with adults (18 and up), couples (married or not, opposite sex or same sex), families, and groups.

I do full 1 hour sessions. Depending on the issue to be resolved, a 1.5 to 2 hour session may be suggested. Many of my clients even request 1.5 hour or 2 hour sessions just to get more accomplished. You will see how we work at our first session and can then choose the length of subsequent sessions. Couples sessions always benefit from being at least 1.5 hours.

Our sessions are $300/hour. 1 – 2 sessions with me can easily replace months (or years) of traditional therapy. I have received scores of comments from clients about the efficiency and ease of transformation they obtained.

Perhaps the best one: “I felt more of an improvement after even the initial 20-minute consultation with you then I did from all the therapists I’ve seen over the previous 20 years!”

No, I am not in-network with any insurance companies. However, there is one possible alternative if you would like to use your insurance: check with your provider to see if your coverage includes Out of Network (OON) benefits for mental health visits. If you have OON coverage, you would pay for the service at the time of your appointment, then I will provide you with a SuperBill which you will send to your provider to seek reimbursement directly from them.

Note: There is only ONE way to ensure that all topics and issues we discuss in a session stay 100% confidential and only between you and I, and that is self-pay with no insurance, which is the framework I use.

Please be advised when using insurance:

  1. all insurance companies require a mental disorder diagnosis
  2. they may request a copy of our session notes”
  3. they may decline your request for reimbursement
  4. they may dictate the number of sessions and the length of the sessions
  5. anyone who comes in contact with your personal health information in the chain of insurance processing has access to it; the exact opposite of confidentiality.

A mental disorder diagnosis will become a part of your permanent health record. It can work against you when attempting to get certain insurances, apply for certain licenses, or in your military or business career, as anyone who has a “legitimate” reason to access the medical database can view your records.

For these reasons, I have decided not to accept health insurance directly.

Yes! I see clients via teletherapy. Due to the way I work, video (and phone) sessions are every bit as effective as in-person sessions. Additionally, many people find them preferable due to ease of scheduling (no travel time) or where they are physically located.

Confidentiality is a large part of what makes counseling successful. For many people, it is the only safe, non-judgmental, and confidential place where they can feel completely at ease to talk about absolutely anything. Nothing that we talk about nor any identifying characteristics of you will ever be discussed outside of our meetings.

The consultation is a great way for me to learn what you’ve been experiencing so I can then know how I can be of benefit for you. If you are initially hesitant to reach out to a stranger for counseling, it is also a way for you to get more comfortable and familiar with me before we do a session.

I serve clients on weekdays from 10 am – 6 pm. Other days and times are available by request with additional cost.

Please call, text, or email. If I am in session, please leave a message and I will return your phone call, text, or email the same day. If you are contacting me for an appointment, please let me know of a few days and times that would work for you.
